New Identify Classifications help ProQuest to better understand and develop their markets

Zoe Loveland is Senior Director, Academic Segment Planning, at ProQuest. Since the release of the New Identify Classifications in 2015, Zoe has leveraged this additional data from Ringgold to better profile existing customers, explore the wider market for new prospects with similar profiles, and reveal targets in new market segments.

Zoe notes, “Ringgold’s New Identify Classifications have been really helpful for segmenting and targeting our markets for both existing and new products. I have found the detailed ‘Subjects’, the ‘Level’ and the ‘Economic Model’ especially helpful. In the past, I employed researchers to do this sort of detailed segmentation work and it was very time consuming. A query that might have taken weeks of data gathering to answer, can now be answered in two minutes! Having better, more specific targets means that the Sales Team is able to work much more effectively and achieve better results.”

To find out more about how the New Identify Classifications can help you make the most of the Identify Database or Identify Audit Services, contact us. Or, read the full ProQuest case study here.

ProtoView & new server

In keeping with our commitment to give users a more satisfying experience when they use our databases, we have substantially upgraded ProtoView by moving the database onto a new server.

Keeping Identify up-to-date

Institutional records in the Identify Database are being constantly reviewed and updated. Recently we have made updates to records for French administrative regions following their restructuring. Twenty-seven first-level administrative regions have been reduced to eighteen. Six regions currently have a temporary name; the new names will be decreed in October and we will review the affected records again at that time.

We are also updating records associated with the Russian Academy of Sciences. This previously independent research organization is now under government control. We are checking each institution in the RAS hierarchy, reviewing its Ringgold Type and Tier, and adding New Ringgold Classifications to each record.

The Italian health system is also under review, and work is in progress to ensure all public health authorities are linked to their administrating region.

Consortium Directory Online news

News from Egypt, in January 2016 the government launched the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), a state-funded nationwide licensing program, which provides anyone with an Egyptian IP address with free access to a digital library of Arabic and English information resources. And from China, since its establishment in 1998 the Digital Resource Acquisition Alliance of Chinese Academic Libraries (DRAA) has grown rapidly and is now with more than 600 members China’s largest and most important academic library consortium. Finally, the Indian Union Government Ministry of Human Resource Development merged in late 2015 its three separate licensing programmes for higher education libraries (INDEST-AICTE, UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, and NLIST) into one single consortium: e-ShodhSindhu. Other recent additions to CDO:

  • Ringgold ID 442251: e-ShodhSindhu (Consortium for Higher Education Electronic Resources)
  • Ringgold ID 443045: eFADA (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in United Arab Emirates)
  • Ringgold ID 443388: Centro de Información Científica del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología

Please let us know if there is a consortium you would like us to add to the directory and we’ll be pleased to do so.
