OpenIdentify is a free service that allows the general public to register and access  detailed records for any of the 290,000 institutions and 600 consortia from around the world that are included in the Identify database. Staff within these institutions may also use OpenIdentifyto send us updates and corrections to their information. 

Each institution's record provides:

• A unique number (the Ringgold Identifier) for each institution, currently being used by publishers and other vendors to unambiguously identify their customers and support the journal supply chain
• A list of the hierarchical relationships shared with other institutions, including consortia membership
• Various demographic data such as size, type and location of institution

The database is constantly being developed, and feedback is encouraged to identify missing institutions, or to suggest corrections. For more information contact info@ringgold.com
