Why
audit with Ringgold?
A publisher’s data comes from a variety of sources
in different formats, some of which will have been
captured using different protocols for naming
institutions. The Identify
database
contains more than 350,000 unique institutional
records, each with its own Ringgold ID number. Our
international
team of expert researchers checks your
institutional data and applies the Ringgold ID to
each record. We then map each ID to the
institution’s organisational structure or
hierarchy. Metadata is provided covering location,
size, URL, institutional type, tiers, and
consortium membership.
How we go
about auditing
Ringgold
receives customer data and follows a
series of co-ordinated steps to ensure
the de-duplication and disambiguation of
institutions.
Ringgold’s Production Team and
researchers manually audit customer data
and map it to the
Identify database, and
within that, into each institutional
hierarchy, providing Ringgold numbers
and a wealth of metadata for all your
customer data. Ringgold researchers
systematically process institutional
data files provided by clients in order
to disambiguate and apply unique
identities as follows:
An
important aspect of this process is
the identification of relationships
between organizations. The hierarchy
is important because it helps you to
understand all of your customers no
matter where they sit in an
institution or group of institutions,
for example to provide holdings
reports for library consortia prior to
negotiating a deal or consolidate
subscriptions coming from different
parts of the same institution.
Benefits
Ringgold’s Auditing Service enables clients to benefit in the
following way:
- Disambiguation of your
customer accounts. Utilising the unique
Ringgold institutional identifier, duplicate
accounts and holdings are easily identified,
and consolidated
- Multi-faceted profiling
of your customer base. Auditing returns
metadata specific to each institutional record
including location, type, tiers, size and
other associated metadata. From the files
Ringgold supplies, clients analyse their
subscriber base in terms of industry sector,
geographic region, and more
- Accurately manage your
renewals: Audits ensure that renewals and
non-renewals are accurately identified. Run
more effective renewal campaigns by
concentrating only on true lapses or
cancellations.
- With an Audit update,
obtain new and up-to-date information about
your existing customers to ensure they
continue to fit into your pricing models. And
ensure that new customer data utilises the
same data formats and information to power
your internal systems. And ensure that your
customer accounts do not need to be merged or
demerged.
Audit Files for
Humans
Ringgold is pleased to
announce an enhancement to our auditing
service: Audit Files for Humans (AFFH).
Sent in the
convenient format of an Excel spreadsheet,
Audit Files for Humans allow you to
immediately analyse your data beside Ringgold
data, and allows the capability to view a
complete summary of your data without waiting
for it to be loaded into your internal
system.
Audit Files for Humans are a complementary
free service in addition to our current
service Audit Files for Systems, which until
now were only available in CSV format.
Audit Files for Humans can be tailored to
include whatever fields of data you choose and
can include subscription data with or without
consortia information.
