Three US publishers, Apple charged with antitrust violations over e-books pricing

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and 15 other US state attorneys general have charged three of the nation’s largest book publishers and Apple Inc. with conspiring to fix the sales prices of e-books. Defendants named in the antitrust action are: Penguin Group (USA) Inc., Simon & Schuster Inc., Macmillan Holdings LLC and Apple Inc. However, Attorney General Eric Holder announced at a recent press conference that Hachette, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster have agreed to a proposed settlement.

Google to end eBooks partnership with independent booksellers

Missouri Evergreen Consortium

MOBIUS, a nonprofit library organization, signed a contract with the Missouri State Library to host and manage an Evergreen Integrated Library System for the public libraries of Missouri. The Missouri State Library will fund migration costs and MOBIUS staffing for the Missouri Evergreen Consortium for the next five years.

Virtual International Authority File to be part of OCLC service

Softlink extends OverDrive eBook distribution to Corporate and Academic libraries

NISO publishes revised Recommended Practice for RFID in US libraries
