Publishing partnership for Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians

mail article to a friend
University of California Press Journals + Digital Publishing has announced that the Society of Architectural Historians, a not-for-profit membership organisation and learned society that promotes the study and preservation of the built environment worldwide, has selected UC Press as its new partner in publishing the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians (JSAH), beginning in January 2010.

The Society of Architectural Historians is an international society that promotes the study, interpretation and preservation of the built environment worldwide. The Society's membership of approximately 2,500 individuals includes professors of architectural and art history, architects and other design professionals, preservationists, museum curators, students, and others united in their interest in architectural history. Institutional members include other learned societies, university libraries, art and historical museums, and preservation organisations.

JSAH - published since 1941 - comes out four times a year, each issue offering three or four scholarly articles, reviews of recent books and architecture exhibitions, and a variety of editorials designed to place the discipline of architectural history within a larger intellectual context. Subscriptions to JSAHare a benefit of membership in the Society of Architectural Historians.

Central to the new publishing agreement is the reshaping of JSAH's online presence to incorporate a wider variety of digital content-including zoomable images, video and audio clips, and geographic information systems. Back issues from the last three years will also be available digitally via UC Press' Caliber online hosting platform, and prior issues, with a rolling three-year embargo, will continue to be available online through JSTOR's digital archive. The first issue of JSAH featuring this multimedia content will publish in March 2010.
