Thomson Scientific invites applications for annual scholarship

Thomson Scientific is seeking applicants from North America for its 2008 Roger K Summit Scholarship. The US$5,000 award is given annually to a promising graduate student in library and information sciences.

The deadline for applications for this award is 30 April 2008. The winner will be announced at the Special Libraries Association annual conference, to be held June 2008, in Seattle.

The Roger K Summit Scholarship is awarded twice annually, one to a graduate student enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences program in the Americas and one in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa.

A panel of local information professionals selects the regional winner after reviewing academic achievement, faculty recommendations, interest in electronic information services and proficiency using Dialog online services.

"The information industry is quickly evolving with the advent of new technologies, making it essential for information professionals to be adaptable and strategic. Their future success depends on their ability to implement tools and applications that make information more valuable, relevant and accessible," said Libby Trudell, Senior Vice President, Market Development. "We are proud to support the next generation of information professionals with the Roger K Summit scholarship."
