In December 2006, the Government announced that HEFCE would develop a framework for the assessment and funding of research, to come into effect after the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.
The letter outlines HEFCE's plans to develop and implement the new framework, in consultation with the sector. It discusses the background, key elements and developing the framework. HEFCE finishes with a timetable of how the framework will be developed.
